A serious fire at Day’s Motorpark in Gorseinon, Swansea, has destroyed or damaged more than 20 vehicles, including motorhomes, vans, and cars.
The blaze broke out on Thursday August 29 at the dealership located on Swansea Road, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
The fire, which is believed to have started accidentally, sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky, with dramatic images capturing the giant dinosaur model on the dealership’s forecourt engulfed in smoke.
Firefighters were called to the scene at around 2:15pm, deploying five fire engines and a specialist appliance to combat the flames.
A 25-year-old man sustained injuries in the fire but was treated by paramedics on-site and did not suffer any serious harm.
The blaze caused extensive damage, with seven motorhomes completely destroyed and six others severely damaged. Four cars, eight vans, and a minibus were also damaged.
As a precaution, several nearby buildings were evacuated, and police assisted firefighters in managing traffic, leading to the closure of a section of Swansea Road.
Residents in the area were advised to stay indoors and keep their windows and doors closed.
Fire crews remained on the scene until 4:50pm to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and the area was safe.
