Vertu Motors invests £3.6m in two new Volvo dealerships

Vertu Motors is making a major investment of £3.6 million to expand its presence in the South West, opening two new Volvo dealerships in Yeovil and Plymouth.

The UK’s fourth-largest motor retailer is relocating Volvo Yeovil to a new site while also bringing the Volvo brand back to Plymouth for the first time in 17 years.

This expansion follows Vertu’s acquisition of Rowes Garage and multiple Helston Garages Group dealerships in the region.

Both locations will showcase Volvo’s signature lounge areas, featuring Scandinavian-inspired luxury furniture and private customer workspaces with complimentary Wi-Fi.

The showrooms will display Volvo’s latest electric models, including the EX30, EX40, EC40, and the all-new EX90—a fully electric seven-seater SUV. A selection of Volvo Selekt Approved Used Cars will also be available at both sites.

In alignment with Volvo’s goal to become a fully electric car company, both sites will feature EV charging points for plug-in hybrid and fully electric models. The workshops will also include Volvo Personal Service workbays, allowing customers to observe servicing process in real-time.

Nick Jones, Volvo franchise director at Vertu, said: “We are very excited to expand our Volvo representation to six sites across the South West, as we open the doors to these fantastic new dealerships. We are thrilled to bring the Volvo brand back to Plymouth and provide our customers in Yeovil with the very best experience at our new state-of-the-art facility.

“This is a significant investment and underlines the confidence and relationship we have with Volvo UK, as well as the market opportunity in the South West. We’ve put a lot of work into creating contemporary spaces where customers can feel relaxed and comfortable. We have also incorporated the latest eco-friendly technology to ensure we are being consciously sustainable in all areas.”
